Three New Things I tried in NYC this Week
The best part of NYC is all the new things to try. You can spend lifetimes exploring this city!
The Pickle Guys- Lower East Side

When I saw this place I knew I had to give it a visit. Not only do they have pickles, but they also pickle a variety of items !!
The staff is so friendly and it’s the top choice for locals and tourists alike. They give out all the samples you want. Make sure to try their pickled pineapple for something unique! I ended up buying some bread and butter pickles, pickled bell peppers and pickled pineapple.
I highly recommend this anyone who loves pickles and want a unique NYC experience.
Beetle House
Only in NYC can you find a year round spooky restaurant! Stepping inside you are transported to the world of Tim Burton and Halloween.
The dining reservation includes at $60 three course meal (appetizer, main course, and dessert) and drinks are extra ($14-$16 each). I ended up with some spooky garlic parmesan fries (v yummy), cast iron chicken risotto (mostly a soupy risotto and two pieces of carrot), and raspberry tart with raspberry sorbet (the tart was dry but the sorbet was refreshing). My friend and I split their fish bowl drink for $25 which was a splurge but a better deal instead of getting two drinks! It seemed like a long island ice tea and wasn’t too special.
It also includes a show every half hour. We saw a magician, Beetlejuice, and Lydia perform. Based on reviews they cycle through characters on different nights! The characters do spend some time going from table to table talking with the guests which I personally don’t like, but was a good touch.
Overall, I would bring people visiting the city who love the spooky and halloween vibes.
East Village Books
I had a little bit of time to kill in the East Village and it was a beautiful day. While I was wandering, the word “Books” caught my eye and I stumbled upon this book shop. It is now one of my top bookstores in NYC.
Tiny and cosy basement store full from floor to ceiling with books. It seems like every book as a different letter of the alphabet assigned to it and each month two new letters are extremely discounted. So for June dozens of books with the letter A and B were only $2 and $3 dollars. Make sure to check out there back patio for even more book deals!
