Three Things for Pickle Lovers in NYC
In the past year I have discovered a love for pickles... here are three places I have discovered to help grow that love in NYC!
Shop at Sweet Pickle Books

When I heard that there was a bookstore in NYC where you can buy and trade books and pickles I knew I had to go! It feels like a match made in heaven and I don’t know why I have never connected them before.
They are open seven days a week, but only accept books and records on Tuesdays and Wednesday. Look at their instagram before you go for the types of books they are looking for! I brought in five books and walked away with a free jar of pickles!
Sample pickles at The Pickle Guys

When I saw this place I knew I had to give it a visit. Not only do they have pickles, but they also pickle a variety of items !!
The staff is so friendly and it’s the top choice for locals and tourists alike. They give out all the samples you want. Make sure to try their pickled pineapple for something unique! I ended up buying some bread and butter pickles, pickled bell peppers and pickled pineapple.
I highly recommend this anyone who loves pickles and want a unique NYC experience.
Eat at Jacob’s Pickles

This list would not be complete without a trip to Jacob’s Pickles. It is potentially the most famous pickle restaurant in New York City and maybe the world? I’m not sure how well known it is world wide but more people should know about it. It has a 4.6 on google reviews with over 6.2k reviews so you don’t have to take my word for it.
It is southern style food known for their chicken biscuit sandwiches (which sadly I can’t eat a lot of) but also their housemate pickles (which I am happy to say tasted fantastic).
I didn’t make the trek up to their original location on the Upper West Side, but they have smaller locations at the Penn Station and Time Out Market Food Halls.
Bonus- Make your own pickles!
I couldn’t spend a week all about pickles without making my own! I used this and this recipe to make my own mixture that was just right for my taste buds.
I love to cook and so it was fun to sample pickles from a couple stores and then make my own. Even if you don’t like to cook, it is a fun challenge to try to make something at home that you would usually buy.
